TOURNAMENT RULES & REGULATIONS

SPADES [Subject To Changes]

  1. 4 hands played per team, per game.
  2. Team with the highest total after 4 hands will continue to advance.
  3. No first hand bids itself, every hand must have a bid.
  4. Blind 6 or above is allowed if opponent is 100 points behind.
  5. If you have NO SPADES when your hand is dealt- you can request a new deal after discussing with your partner.
  6. Once a spade hits the table, it has to stay. If you misplayed, too bad, you lose ONLY that book if you realize it before the book is turned. If the book is turned, you lose 3 books.
  7. After cards are dealt- and bid is made-absolutely no talking till the end of that hand is played.
  8. If there is a mis deal, that same dealer will re-deal.
  9. If you bid 10 books, you get 200 points. Ten for Two.
  10. ANY DISPUTES WILL BE RESOLVED BY A COMMITTEE MEMBER.
BID WHIST [Subject To Changes]
  1. Four players, usually in fixed partnerships, sit opposite each other at a table.
  2. Starting with the player to the dealer’s left (eldest hand), players bid or pass.
  3. Each bid represents the number of tricks the player believes their team can win.
  4. Bids must be higher than the previous bid, or a player can pass (meaning they can’t or won’t bid any higher).
  5. A “no trump” bid is higher than a trump bid of the same number.
  6. The highest bidder becomes the declarer and chooses the trump suit if it was a trump bid (or no trump if it was a no-trump bid).
  7. The declarer takes the kitty into their hand, and discards an equal number of cards from their hand.
  8. The declarer leads the first trick.
  9. Players must follow suit if they can. If a player cannot follow suit, they can play any card, including a trump if they have one.
  10. The highest trump wins the trick, or the highest card of the led suit if no trump is played.
  11. The winner of each trick leads the next trick.
  12. At the end of the hand, teams count the number of tricks won above six.
  13. If the declarer’s team wins at least the number of tricks they bid, they score one point for each trick won above six.
  14. If the declarer’s team fails to make their bid, they score a negative score equal to their bid amount.
  15. The first team to reach a predetermined score (e.g., 7 or -7) wins the game.
  16. Special Rules: Reneging: A player failing to follow suit when they could have is a renege and results in a penalty. Jokers: Some variations allow for jokers, which may have special rules for bidding and trick-taking, such as being the highest trump in “downtown” or no-trump games.
  17. ANY DISPUTES WILL BE RESOLVED BY A COMMITTEE MEMBER.

HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE!
