Education Programming

ICIBE’s Education Committee is designed to create an interactive and information based environment for current and aspiring African American school administrators to share and learn new ideas, best practices, concepts and research on creating quality seats for all children in Marion County. Annually, the Indy Chapter recognizes African American school leaders from across central Indiana for their service as educators in our community.

21st Century Scholars Program: Indiana’s 21st Century Scholars is a need- and performance-based program that provides students the opportunity to earn up to a four-year scholarship at an Indiana college or university. Indiana students who meet income criteria can enroll during their 7th or 8th grade year of middle school. Students commit to maintaining academic success, remaining drug and alcohol free, and completing college-preparation. ICIBE has partnered with Indiana University Bloomington, Ivy Tech and Martin University to organize and execute a series of college visits that will allow students from the identified school districts to fulfill the college visitation requirement of the program. ICIBE also works with the identified school districts and the Indiana Commission for Higher Education to execute 21st Century Scholars’ middle school student sign up events in the identified school districts to ensure that families are maximizing the opportunities that come with the program.
